In Rural and Urban regions of India the problem of Gender Inequality is getting severe day by day. The cases of women abuse in this pandemic situation is out of control now. With less government interventions and unawareness among women's about their legal rights is the main reason behind this.
Social & Economic Inequalities among Women's during COVID-19 Pandemic
Since the start of pandemic brutality and domestic violence against women's has increased as per the NCRB Department Report. Due to high number of job losses, unemployment and family pressure in this lockdown couples are stuck into their houses and women's are the easy victims of this time.
Womens In Pandemic |
All the household and family work which has now increased is done by the womens making them physically and mentally weak. Government schemes such as Atamanirbhar bharat, Money transfer, PDS, Ujjwala Yojana which is especially for the women's of rural region for their upliftment and empowerment, they are not getting much benefit of it due to unawareness.
However, India has achieved some good milestones in gender equality by giving ample opportunities to womens in jobs, education, medical and defence sector. Recent job losses among women's due to lockdown has created financial instability when money is must needed. But domestic violence needs to be checked and controlled by strict laws, rules and regulations as this is an serious matter. Only giving them opportunities and scheme benefits is not enough when they themselves are not safe at home.
Pandemic is testing human beings from various perspectives like Financially, Socially, Morally etc. Some major key points include:-
1.) An efficient vaccine which is good and safe for all the age groups.
2.) Not a single person should sleep empty stomach. Making sure each one of us gets adequate nutrition.
3.) Lockdown and Curfews has influenced all of us both socially and mentally.
4.) How each student will get good quality of education through online mode is also the biggest concern of this time.
5.) Layoffs especially in Private sector is also increasing effecting them financially make things more burdenable for them.
6.) More focus of the government should be to improve the health sector and supporting the economy by giving different sectors some sort of relief package.
7.) Financial burden on families had made them to take money from the moneylenders which is an debt trap. This is a serious issue.
Although government has done good when it comes to vaccine immunization throughout the country. Whether rich or poor rules are same for everyone. This is an example of Gender and Social Equality and nations around the world should learn from this. Having a balance in the society is also necessary.
Women's are the easier victims of domestic violence this is the area where they becomes weak. The reason for this is unawareness about their legal and constitutional rights. Also we have to look after the children who lost their parents in this pandemic making sure that their studies doesn't get effected by it.
Our Responsibilities
New laws should be made to reduce the number of layoffs thus securing the Jobs of an individual. In case any firm is willing to reduce the number of employees, adequate time period and remuneration should be given by the firm so that an individual has ample time and money to seek for new opportunity. Apart from this Men's should be taught with basic morals and values to respect womens as this would reduce domestic violence against womens. In this tough times sticking to our values, will helps us to overcome this pandemic situation effectively as whole world is affected by it either directly or indirectly.
When COVID-19 Pandemic broke out in 2020, government did nation wide lockdown we all followed covid appropriate behaviours and protocols. This helped us to control the virus. India was successfull in controlling the virus spread during the first wave. However, during 2nd wave things were reversed leading to severe consequences. People also lost there Jobs in highest numbers and cases of domestic violence against womens increased manifold times. Other important area to be focused is schooling of the children's. The major challenge is for the students of rural areas who don't have proper digital devices to continue their classes. Mid day meal is not given as the schools are closed this has also affected the nutrition level of this children's who are dependent on Mid day meal scheme.
Imbalance in the society is also due to high prices of the goods due to lockdown. Imports are high compared to exports this has resulted in high prices of any products we can think off. Our economic development is also hampered by this resulting in low GDP growth. Overall everyone is affected by this so we need a proper framework where everything can be in control. Matters of Women safety is to be taken seriously by higher and local authorities making sure that no women becomes the victim of domestic violence in the country.
